Online grocer BigBasket has registered a complaint with the Cyber Crime Mobile in Bengaluru to confirm claims made by cybersecurity intelligence company Cyble a hacker has set up BigBasket’s consumer information available on the dim net for more than 40,000.

Based on Cyble, information of almost two crore users is endangered on October 30. Along with the user data set available includes titles, email IDs, password hashes, telephone numbers, addresses, date of birth, place, and IP addresses.

On being contacted, BigBasket explained: “A couple of days back, we learned about a possible data breach at BigBasket and are assessing the extent of the breach and credibility of the claim in consultation with cybersecurity pros and discovering immediate methods to include it.

We Also Have complained with the Cyber Crime Mobile in Bengaluru. The confidentiality and privacy of our clients is our priority and we don’t store any financial information such as credit card numbers and are convinced that this financial information is protected.”

China’s Alibaba is a significant investor in BigBasket with nearly a 28% stake. Sources say it needs to pare down its shareholding from BigBasket, India’s first unicorn in the e-grocery space.

Big Basket is situated in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Delhi, Noida, Mysore, Coimbatore, Vijayawada-Guntur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, Lucknow-Kanpur, Gurgaon, Vadodara, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Nagpur, Patna, Indore, Chandigarh, and Tricity town.
